@Stellan

Stellan didn’t know what say, he didn’t know how to act. He stood up and walked over to his desk, his back facing Harley. He was feeling so many emotions he hardly knew how to deal with them. He sifted through them all and picked the ones that pricked at him the most; the ones that seemed to fuel his silence.

Anger. Disappointment. Surprise. … Happiness?

He was so angry at her for sleeping with that boy. Although they had ended their relationship when he left to go back to Vegas, and during the year while they were a part Stellan did in fact sleep with other women, he still couldn’t help but feel a little of himself felt betrayed.  Whenever he reflected back on the good times he had while he was in New York with Harley and what she was possibly up to at that moment, he never once imagined her having sex with someone else.

He was disappointed that Harley would dare spill secrets to another person who she had been sleeping with. How did she know she could trust him? Even if he was in some mafia. He took a deep breath, and realised that he was part of Cosa Nostra. Although he wasn’t from that world, and he didn’t understand it he could however understand Harley’s reasons for trusting him. And he had to respect that.

Stellan was surprised that Harley - a girl so smart  - got caught by doing something so stupid. Then again, she could have had a serious relationship with this guy. They could have had something like Stellan had with her, and she wasn’t exactly keeping secrets from him.

Happiness? Was he truly happy that she had been caught? That she had been so stupid? Well, he was, because it meant she was here, with him,and safe. Sure, they didn’t know what the hell the Hive was about, but he was glad she was here rather than some prison, possibly crazy with the infection. And he had no doubt that he was going to be able to find them some way out of this place.

He sighed. Where had he exactly landed on this? Not even he himself knew. So he decided to just speak, and let the words come out and then let the chips fall where they may.

“Harley,” he nodded his head, shrugging his shoulders, “I’m not your father, I’m not going to scold you for being so stupid and foolish but…”

“If things hadn’t happened the way they had, you wouldn’t be here with me, you wouldn’t be safe. You would most likely be over taken with that fucking virius.”

He walked over to the bed and grabbed her hands in his, offering a small smile as a sign of peace and love. “True, you were stupid but… I got caught too, so I’m not really in a position to judge you.”

Harley held her breath as Stellan turned her back on her and walked away.  The longer he faced away from her, the more nervous she became.  She knew he wouldn’t be able to look at her anymore.  Had she made a mistake in telling him?  Harley was good at keeping secrets, after all she had never told anyone she was part of the mafia.  Then again, that was one of the commandments.

Harley could have kept this from Stellan, but she didn’t want to.  She loved Stellan; she wouldn’t manipulate and lie to him, hoping to make to Stellan feel the same way about her.

When Stellan took her hands in his, Harley was surprised and afraid.  The kind look in his eyes quelled her fear.  “Believe me, I know how stupid I was.  What I did was more than stupid.  It was asinine.  It was treachery.  I betrayed everything I believed in, everything I loved.”  Except him, but by chance.

“I never thought I’d see you again,” Harley admitted, not wanting to let him go.  “Even without the virus.  Everything took over and suddenly we had no control and …” her frantic voice trailed off.

“Can you forgive me?” she said and bit her lip.  It wasn’t Stellan’s forgiveness Harley really needed.  More than anything Harley needed forgiveness from her papa, but that wasn’t possible.  Not in this lifetime.  Knowing that Stellan forgave her would make her feel like she wasn’t completely contemptible.

A smile graced his face, and he nodded, kissing her on the lips. “Yeah. I can.”

Of course he could, technically, in his eyes, she had done nothing wrong. This guilt she felt must have stemmed back to her father who Stellan knew she still loved with all her heart.

He wrapped her up in his arms and lay down, his chin resting on the top of her head. “Tell me about this sleepover you had.”

He had to laugh. Harley, having a sleepover with other girls? She used to be one of the most feared women in New York. This was the girl who ordered hits and beatings on people, and all Stellan could picture was her in some fluffy pink pajama’s, eating popcorn and watching chick flicks.

“Harley Morello. Feared throughout the Big Apple, pillow fighting at a sleepover.”

He laughed openly, and his grip on her tightened. It was at this point that he had missed so much. The laughing and talking and hugging he had with Harley. Where the two of them weren’t burdened by the death and jobs they were thrust upon since they were children. They were free to be teenagers in love again.

Stellan heard the sharp inhalation right before her tears. He could just picture the tears tugging at her bottom lip; it ruined him. He hadn’t meant to make her cry.

He must have said something wrong; she was crying. And a surge of guilt waved over his body, and he sat back down, cradling her face in his hands.

“Do what, my love? It’s me and you, always.”

He kissed her lightly on the lips and stood back up. Stripping out of his shirt, and out of his jeans, he positioned himself on the bed next to Harley.

Harley curled into a ball facing Stellan.  “If you knew the truth,” she whispered, “the whole truth of what happened this past year, you’d never speak to me again.  You probably couldn’t bear to look at me.”  Tears continued to pour down her face, but her voice had steadied.  Harley was ashamed of crying; a capafamiligia did not cry in front of anyone.  Weakness was not something that was acceptable in front of the closest of allies.  Even when circumstances warranted it - like her father’s murder - Harley was expected to keep her tears locked deep inside her and focus all her thoughts on avenging him; in her position, mourning was not acceptable.

But this was Stellan, and he was unlike anyone else.  Stellan had been raised in the same world she had, even if it was on the other side of the globe.  Harley and Stellan were born into a world of duties and expectations they never asked for and were never given a chance to refuse.  They may have kept up certain appearances at school, but really, they were never children.  They were the heirs to great crime families, and every facet of their lives revolved around that, no matter where they were.

Stellan let out a short, bitter laugh. He had never really been good at reading people; it was always Harley’s area of expertise, but he couldn’t deny the hurt he heard in her voice. The anger.

He stood up, looking at her back turned towards him. “Harley, are you serious…

Stellan wasn’t angry per say, just amazed how a happy, content moment could turn so quickly. Had he said something wrong?

@Harley; Regina di Cosa Nostra

And just like that, his ataraxia come into play, it showed itself like a well-played hand of cards. He didn’t beat around the bushes, Stellan was rip, shit and bust. He wanted to know. “Harley…,” He sat her down on the bed next to him, “I gotta know where we stand, right…

Stellan smirked, he hadn’t expected Harley to be so forward but he certainly wasn’t complaining.

He licked his lips, and blood surge through his body, adrenaline making its way through his veins. He had enjoyed the feeling of Harley pressed up against him more than he had thought he would.

“Yeah,” He looked into her brown eyes, seeing his own reflection, “That’s uh, a good place. I think we could stand there.”

He leaned in, wanting to kiss her again.

Stellan hadn’t realized how much he had missed kissing the Italian girl. It had been over a year since he had seen her last, and he had hardly been given the chance to have a proper goodbye. He had wanted to say and do so many things, but her father’s death had driven Dimitri’s fears sky-high; and Stellan was pulled back like a child walking into traffic.

Uh, hey.
